01The Challenge
Mentorship's legacy platform, built on React and jQuery, struggled to handle the volume of real-time market data their institutional clients required. Page loads exceeded 8 seconds, data visualisations lagged behind live markets, and the outdated UI was losing clients to competitors with modern platforms. They needed a ground-up rebuild that could handle high-frequency data while meeting strict financial compliance requirements.
02The Approach
We architected a React-based frontend with WebSocket-driven real-time data streams and D3.js-powered interactive charting. The backend was rebuilt using Node.js microservices with Redis for in-memory caching and PostgreSQL for transaction persistence. We implemented a custom virtual scrolling engine to render 10,000+ rows without jank, built role-based access controls for SEC compliance, and deployed the entire stack on AWS with multi-region failover.
